About the directory

Metal Scrap Dealer publishes business information, customer-feedback assessments and guides to help readers compare vehicle buying, collection and recycling services. It does not take bookings, buy vehicles or collect payments through this website. Any quote, sale, collection or treatment arrangement is agreed directly with the business you choose.

Customer feedback and opinion

Service scores are assessments compiled by the directory team from feedback about customers’ experiences. Some contributors may be personally known to the team. Scores and conclusions express honestly held assessment opinions; factual statements and official register information are distinguished from those opinions. We remain responsible for taking reasonable care in how information is checked and presented.

Our published ratings are not a simple average of individually posted customer star ratings. Nine service criteria and a separate ATF-related check contribute equally to the overall score, which is rounded to a whole star. Where an assessment has been supplied and confirmed for the directory, its source is explained on the listing. Read how we assess feedback.

What ratings and recommendations mean

A rating reflects the information assessed and does not guarantee every customer’s experience or future performance. A highest-rated label refers to the overall assessment scores currently recorded in this directory, not every business in the UK and not a ranking issued by Google. A high overall score does not replace the need to read individual findings.

Google ratings, where shown, are labelled separately with their stated source. A Google rating reported on a business’s website is not described as independently retrieved from Google. Follow the Google link for its current rating and reviews.

ATF status and service areas

A vehicle collector or buyer is not necessarily an Authorised Treatment Facility. Check the receiving facility and the applicable official register before permanent scrapping. A five-star service assessment is not a government approval, licence or certification. Collection-area listings indicate service coverage and do not imply a branch or treatment site in every town.

Quotes and external services

Confirm prices, deductions, collection availability, payment timing and paperwork directly with the provider. The quote comparison calculator uses figures you enter and does not issue a binding quote. Website, Google and WhatsApp links take you to third-party services governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Messages sent using a listing’s WhatsApp link go to that business.

Fair use and feedback integrity

Submit feedback only about your own genuine customer experience, identify any incentives and use accurate information. Do not impersonate another person, misuse personal information or attempt to compromise the website. Feedback and factual challenges should relate to the correct business and be supported by relevant information. Positive and negative feedback are subject to consistent accuracy checks.

No purchased ratings or bribery

We do not request or accept bribes. Businesses cannot purchase higher ratings or the suppression of justified criticism. Corrections are considered without charge. Attempts to improperly influence ratings will be documented; where there are reasonable grounds to suspect bribery or another criminal offence, the matter will be reported to the appropriate law-enforcement authority. Legitimate complaints and legal challenges are not, by themselves, improper conduct.

Corrections and business responses

A correction request should identify the listing, disputed words or score, and supporting evidence. Material concerns are investigated, established errors corrected and assessments reconsidered where reliable evidence justifies a change. Substantial adverse factual allegations are checked and the business is normally given an opportunity to respond. Responsibility and your rights

We take reasonable care over the directory and its presentation. Businesses remain responsible for their own services and agreements. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility for our own unlawful conduct, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted. Nothing removes statutory consumer rights or prevents a legitimate claim, complaint or request for correction.

Applicable law

Applicable UK law governs the relevant issues. Truth, honest opinion and public-interest publication defences depend on their legal conditions being met; they are not created merely by this policy. Relevant legislation includes the Defamation Act 2013 in England and Wales, the Defamation and Malicious Publication (Scotland) Act 2021, the Defamation Act (Northern Ireland) 2022, the Bribery Act 2010, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the consumer-protection provisions of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. These terms do not restrict mandatory protections or the courts in which a consumer is legally entitled to bring proceedings.

Changes to these terms
