Great Britain: Ordnance Survey Open Names
The catalogue contains 2,967 named suburban areas associated with the 70 GB city directories.
OS does not give suburban areas a parent settlement. We derive that association from the nearest named postcode point within 500 metres, considering postcode points for all settlements, including towns. This approximation requires editorial review before local service claims are added. It is not an administrative boundary dataset.
London uses the OS London settlement relationship, with Westminster separated where the source identifies its district. Thus this directory is not a map of City of London boundaries. Brighton & Hove uses the OS combined city record; places assigned to separate settlements can be absent from this first import.

Northern Ireland: selected electoral wards
Includes all six Northern Ireland cities but is not a complete street, suburb, neighbourhood or settlement gazetteer. Belfast has all council wards; other cities use selected city-associated wards. Electoral geography is an explicit alternative to the populated-place data used for Great Britain. Do not render ward names as verified neighbourhood boundaries or claim every UK area is covered.
Armagh · 4 wards
Four selected current wards around Armagh city: Cathedral, Demesne, Navan and The Mall. City association checked against the Department for Communities council ward map. Keady and Blackwatertown, which belong to Armagh DEA but are separate settlements, are excluded. Navan and other ward boundaries extend beyond the built-up city; these are ward pages, not exact neighbourhood boundaries.
Bangor · 11 wards
All 11 wards in the city-named Bangor Central and Bangor West electoral areas. Partial city coverage: Bangor East and Donaghadee and Holywood and Clandeboye are not imported wholesale because they also cover distinct settlements. The wards include peripheral land, so this is not an exact built-up-area or neighbourhood inventory. This Bangor is in Northern Ireland, not Wales.
Belfast · 60 wards
All 60 wards listed by Belfast City Council across its 10 district electoral areas. Coverage refers to the Belfast City Council administrative area, including its suburbs. Wards are electoral geographies and should not be described as exhaustive neighbourhoods or streets.
Lisburn · 12 wards
All 12 wards in Lisburn North and Lisburn South. The other Lisburn and Castlereagh council electoral areas are excluded because they extend into separate settlements and rural areas. Some city fringe areas may therefore be absent. Ward boundaries do not exactly follow neighbourhood or city settlement boundaries.
Londonderry · 22 wards
Selected wards in the four city-side community planning areas Ballyarnett, Foyleside, The Moor and Waterside. Drumahoe is excluded as a distinct peripheral settlement; the rural Faughan, Derg and Sperrin electoral areas are not imported. This is a curated city-associated set, not an exact urban boundary or exhaustive neighbourhood inventory. Londonderry and Derry refer to the same city.
Newry · 5 wards
Five wards explicitly covered by the Newry Local Neighbourhood Policing Team: Abbey, Ballybot, Damolly, Drumalane and St. Patrick's. Fathom is excluded from this city selection because PSNI groups it with Slieve Gullion, despite its electoral membership of Newry DEA. No claim is made that policing boundaries equal city boundaries.

Coverage limits
All 76 UK cities have a directory. This is not an exhaustive list of every UK town, village or neighbourhood. Ely and St Davids have no matched suburban-area records in this import. Northern Ireland entries are wards, not neighbourhoods. Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories are outside scope. No geographic record confirms a provider’s coverage.
